Create an API key

Create a separate key for each application.

Create

Open API Keys and choose Create key. Use a recognizable application and environment name. The default allowance is unlimited with no expiry; you can set an allowance and a 30-day, 90-day or custom expiry.

Limit model access to what the application needs. If several groups are available, check the chosen group and its billing rules.

Save and configure

Copy the complete key from the success window and store it in an environment variable or secret manager. The list displays a masked value; masked values cannot authenticate requests.

Keep complete keys out of browser code, public repositories, screenshots, group chats and support messages. If a key may have leaked, disable or delete it and issue a replacement.

Manage

Turning a key off prevents further use. Deletion invalidates it immediately; update applications first. Next: make your first request.
